Abuse comes in many forms from different people. More often than not, the people who you thought would care for you and protect you are the ones who would physically, emotionally, and verbally abuse you. This is what Sarah Griffin faced and fortunately managed to survive while striving for greatness.
Live With Mama Coco will talk to Sarah Griffin as she shares how she uses struggles as fuel to succeed in life, this Saturday, January 30, at 8:30 PM Trinbago time.
Born in Arima, Trinidad, and Tobago, Sarah Griffin always wanted to prove to the people who made her feel worthless that she could be something more. Sarah was bullied and was literally called “Nobody” because she was born with a cleft palate. A natural-born fighter, Sarah persisted and was accepted to The Caribbean Academy of Fashion Design where she successfully completed her studies in fashion design. She then became part of the cohort at Fashion TT, where she learned everything about the business of fashion. She also attended YTEPP (Youth Training and Employment Partnership Programme) Ltd., Trinidad and Tobago's leading technical and vocational training institution, to do graphic design and Entrepreneurship Management; leading to her becoming one of the executives at the League of Extraordinary Entrepreneurs.
After completing her studies, Sarah faced another challenge in life: a business partner lied and stole from her. Consequently, Sarah was left having to retool and start from scratch. She founded her business, SEG Enterprises International, in January 2019, and today, she focuses on upcycling and recycling fashion and accessories. That same year, Sarah also ventured into another business. She was chosen by an international company to become one of the exclusive brokers for Smart Home - Alpha Cube Technology - in Trinidad and Tobago. Additionally, she is now one of the Directors of a Real Estate Company called PropSOLV Realty Ltd.
Sarah’s quest to always strive harder and move forward enabled her to realize her dreams in life. After having been subjected to bullying herself, she started a campaign called “Cutie With A Clefty” to reach out, inspire and motivate all people affected by Cleft Palate and other Differently Abled persons.
